ACTIVITIES

All activities fall under at least one of the following four pillars:

1. Acquaintance and dialogue: this will lead to insight into each others' experiences and lives and to an increased mutual understanding and respect between people with different cultural and religious backgrounds.

2. Exchange of knowledge: by sharing knowledge understanding can be stimulated.

3. Expanding and creating networks: the Ramadan Festival creates a platform for people of different origins and backgrounds to come together, meet and create bonds that may lasts for a moment or a lifetime.

4. Identity development and cultural formation: exposing people to culture and opening doors by, for example, inviting people to your house to share a dinner, creates a sense of warmth, welcoming and recognition for traditions and culture.

During the festive opening of the Ramadan Festival, which will take place in August/September 2008, the start of the Festival will officially be announced.
The hospitality dinners and iftar meetings stand at the core of the Festival. Giving people the chance to share their dinners is almost a one of a kind opportunity. Every day, one of the cooperating partners will organize an iftar meeting in a different location according to a certain theme. The iftars are open to everyone. Their goal is to facilitate an informal setting in which people of different backgrounds reach acquaintance and dialogue.
The Ramadan Nights are lounge evenings during which people of different cultures and religious beliefs come together to enjoy a relaxed evening and comfortable atmosphere. Under the theme 'Sacred nights' these evenings will be filled with music from different religious cultures. With a combination of Gospel, Sunni(Turkish), Muslim and Hindi music, this 'Holy' night will be one of the highlights of the Festival.
